Hero Gold Sharing
First of all, thanks for letting me ask all these noob questions.
I am currently running with 5 hero's and my main character. When we pick up gold it says it is being shared with the party. When I monitor in inventory, I am only getting 1/6 of the money. Does anyone else think this is BS? I am paying for their upgrades, but they get to split the money. Is there a way to access their money when purchasing item for the heros? |

No you can't access any money assigned to heroes in your party. If you could, it would make playing with heroes umpteen times more attractive than playing with a team of normal people- something ANet don't want to happen. Same goes for the drops assigned for them (though you don't get to see these).

Yes, this system is irritating and annoying. Once you get fully leveled up and have access to the right skills it is possible to make a build that can go out solo into certain areas. This is known as a farming build.
When solo, you get all the gold and all the drops and you get rich. http://www.gwpvx.com/Main_Page describes various farming builds, but you can design your own. |

This is a multiplayer game and designed with the expectation that you will play with other people. Hero/hench are supposed to be for when you can't find people who want to do what you want to do.
So the drop system works the same whether you have all live people, a mix, or you and all hero/hench...everyone gets their assigned drops and share of the gold coins. Actually with loot-scaling, it's more like half of all the possible drops, except a few things. |

The price you pay for using Heroes is getting them equipped and up to speed with skill bars. The price you pay for using Henchmen (who are already set with all that stuff) is getting things done much more slowly and a greater chance of death/failure. Bet you can't guess which is the better bargain!

A relatively small upstart cost (in the long run assuming you aren't gearing them with high-end weapons) should entitle you to all further revenue?

They do 1/4 1/6 or 1/8 of the work, they're entitled to their share. It used to be exactly so, until solo farming got out of hand and the shares were forced to be always there.
Heh, if the logic really were "But I equip them!", I bet people would scream if they had to spend 7/8ths of their money on hero equipment |

Heroes and henchmen have a very strong union. Many years ago, a concerted effort was made by the community to have them pay for their own equipment and upgrades, but it failed.

An army pays for a soldier's gun and ammo AND it pays him to fight. At least the heroes pay themselves with the loot, so all you have is equipment costs.

I never got an equal share like this in the Army :P.. but yeah, it's realy not all that bad considering heroes make everything dirt easy. Like others have mentioned, if you're realy looking for 100% of the drops no choice but solo farm stuff, plenty of good ones around

I always lol when its to do with heros/hench and cash.
Dunkoro has to be one of the richest monks in gw. Yes we have to get them skills , diff armor styles , runed , with weapons and yes we make them rich lol. Gw2 will probably have a plaque stating how much your heros made in gw. You also forgot to mention something but i`ll drop it in - not only do heros get your cash but they also get their own drops ( usually we dont see ) .So not only do we pay them etc etc but now they even steal our drops !!! How to get rich in gw in 1 easy step - hire yourself out as a hench or hero lol. |
